Speechify Tom Test Microsoft Speech Server 2004, CRS EAS)

YouTUbe user Max Baykowski modified the image of Microsoft Speech Server 2004 to include NVDA, meaning that us blind folk now have access to as close to the real Tom used at the NWS from around 2002-2016 as anybody else has. This was my first test.

But the steps were worth it for as authentic of audio as we’ll ever really get.

To get the speech that authentic sound, first I ran the speech through an NWR macro in Audacity modeled after KIG79, then I ran the speech through a macro simulating the EASyPlus encoder, added the music and EAS tones, ran that whole thing through my custom AM Radio Narrow macro, then ran that through the Chow Tape Model VST set to the low-fi preset.
