On May 16, 2025, National Weather Service Green Bay Wisconsin’s NOAA Weather Radio transmitters had this happen, and there were severe thunderstorms and tornadoes that day. This made it to air. Audio is from my internet radio station, GWES ERN/KNA, wich has a broadcast Emergency Alert System encoder unit and receives alerts from the whole country.

This unit will probably get alerts from that area. For context: I’m a member of the GWES EAS Relay Network, a group of nerds with stations similar to mine (though I’m the only blind participant.) Our coverage comes from two sources:
If we have a participant in an area, we use them for alerts. (so I provide local alerts from central West Virginia.) If we don’t have a participant, we monitor a mixture of online streams of NOAA Weather Radio stations, commercial AM/FM stations, tv STATION STREAMS, AND fema’S ipaws/cap SYSTEM. iN PARTICULAR, A LOT OF cALIFORNIA’S CIVIL ALERTS (CHILD ABDUCTIONS, WILDFIRE EVACUATION NOTICES, ETC) WILL COME THROUGH cap. wE HAVE NEAR COMPLETE COVERAGE OF THE NATION.
oNE NOTE THOUGH: DO NOT DEPEND ON THIS STATION FOR CRITICAL LIFE-SAVING IMFORMATION. dEPENDING ON HOW THE ALERT IS RECEIVED, THE DELAY OF AN ALERT BEING SENT MAY RANGE FROM A FEW SECONDS, TO AS MUCH AS EIGHT MINUTES OR MORE.
aNYWAY, GLAD YOU’RE ENJOYING THE STATION.
