Goodbye!
—
by
Well, I’ve officially decided that I’m leaving Elten. I’ve become less active on here as of lately, and all the people I want to keep in touch with, I’ve found on other platforms. My blog will remain up, but there will be no further contributions to it, it will remain only as an archive. If…

Xander’s Classic Mix #3: Dance, Hiphop, Rap and Pop Edition
—
by
Did something different here. For the first two volumes of this series I pre-sequenced the tracks in Audacity and applied volume leveling, and ordered the tracks so it’d evenly fill up the sides. For this, I didn’t do that, I just ran Winamp straight into the tape deck and recorded whatever I felt like. (the…

Big Band + Shitty MIDI Drums?
Of note here, the soundfont and drum patch used isn’t the shitty part, but my playing certainly is.

Adding 90s Dance Drums to 70s Japanese Electronic Music
Added some extra drums to Yellow Magic Orchestras "Rydeen" from the album Solid State Survivor. YMO really pioneered the synthpop genre and were really ahead of their time. They were massive in Japan, and saw a bit of success in Europe, but never had any real success here in the United States.

Pioneer Chrome tape recording rtst
—
by
Got some new-old stock TDK SA90 tapes, the gold standard of Chrome (type II) tapes. Damn this thing sounds good. Recorded and played using DOlby B noise reduction, which I don’t think I’m the biggest fan of.

Pioneer CT-W208R Type 1 Recording Test
—
by
Recorded over the tape that came with my Pioneer. I still need to clean the tape heads, i’m getting some alcohol at Walgreens llater today, and something for the tape deck as well (just kidding.) Tape was recorded using Dolby B noise reductioin, but since the heads need a cleaning it was iffy, so I…

Selvis BrailleSense 6 FM Radio Recordings, a complicated relationship
—
by
The BrailleSense 6 has a built in FM radio and you can record from it. If you’re on a good strong station, like the one in this recording) it sounds unbelievably fantastic (an actual station engineer in Charleston thought I’d recorded an aircheck from the web stream and not over the radio.) However, if the…
